Italian Charm Bracelets

The Italian Charm Bracelet is a relatively new invention having only come to prominence in 2001. Although initially Italian you can now buy these modular bracelets all round the world as well as online - manufacturers and designers are not restricted to Italy.

What Is An Italian Charm Bracelet?

Both ordinary and Italian style charm bracelets allow the mix and match use of multiple charms. The distinctive feature of the Italian style is the way the individual charms snap on to the bracelet. Slots can be filled or left empty and you can build up your collection of snap-on bracelet links and easily customise your look according to your mood or the occasion. This design allows for bigger and bolder designs than the more delicate jewelry usually dangling from a traditional charm bracelet.

The system allows you to create your own personalized charm bracelet. The subject of a charm link can be absolutely anything Traditional symbols, birthstones, mottos etc are always popular however more modern American themes include:

  • Disney
  • Harley Davidon
  • Love / Hearts
  • "Mom"
  • NASCAR
  • Peanuts / Snoopy
  • US flag
  • Webkinz
For some people the Italian charm bracelet is an easy way to show that they are up to date with the latest fashion trends buy buying the latest hot designs and themes. Exactly what is the new hot charm bracelet will probably have changed many times between me writing this and you reading it!

The early bracelets were usually of designer jewelry quality with high quality gold charms. Today there are many mass market manufacturers selling more affordable alternatives. Usually you will buy a "starter bracelet" that consists of the band plus one or more charms, then buy and collect more over time.

Pugster

One of the biggest sellers of Italian bracelet charms is Pugster, based in Southern California. Pugster sell a massive 10,000 different designs including hand painted, licensed and mega designs.

The name Pugster comes from the owner's pet dog who is, of course, called... Pinky! However the name makes sense when you realise that Pinky is a Pug.
