Storywheel Charm Bracelets
What Is A Story Wheel?
The storywheel charm bracelet has become a popular style of build-it-yourself jewelry. Like any other configurable multi-charm bracelet
it consists of a central chain or band - perhaps a bracelet or necklace - to which individual charms can be attached as desired. In keeping with the wheel concept, many of
the charms you can buy for this purpose are based on a circular design.
The main distinguishing feature of a storywheel bracelet is the decision as to which charms to use. With an ordinary bracelet you simply choose those charms that appeal to
you, be it for aesthetic or symbolic reasons. With a storywheel the charms you buy are - as the name suggests - intended to tell a story.
Life Story
One of the most popular storywheels is the life story, a biography in jewelry. This is a highly personal piece that can be built up over the years with a new charm added to represent significant events such
as new jobs, marriage, children etc. A very useful charm for such a life story wheel is one made from an appropriate
birthstone. Such a storywheel could be an interesting heirloom for future generations - if they are left enough clues
to allow them to interpret it.
Other Themes
Although the whole life story is probably the most common wheel there's no reason you should restrict yourself to just this. You can also build up other wheels that
depict in charm form individual segments of your life or of someone else's. Ideas include your time at college, your career, a child's early years, even simply the
story of a great vacation.
The storywheel doesn't even have to be about a person. You could build a bracelet telling the history of your neighbourhood or a major project such as restoring a house.
Or you could simply use a storywheel to tell stories - be they tales of your own invention, local legends or the work of a favourite author. The range of charm designs available is vast
and if you shop around you should be able to find the best one to buy for any particular wheel.
