Easter Costumes

Most children love dressing up - and so do many adults when given the excuse! Perhaps this is one of the reasons why carnivals such as Mardi Gras are so popular?

Easter is an especially popular time for costume parades, perhaps because the imagery that goes with it is amenable to costuming. An Easter parade or show is often a time for both children and adults to show off their latest costume. Sometimes this is just for fun, at others the best costume receives a prize.

The most popular suit for kids seems to be the bunny. You can buy bunny costumes in all sort of designs - whereas everyone knows what Santa looks like, the exact nature of the Easter bunny remains unclear. There are also all of the famous rabbits to consider as costume themes, from Bugs to Harvey! Designing a costume to represent a six foot tall invisible rabbit must be quite a challenge...

Other popular costumes include chicks and eggs. An egg is often a simpler costume to make yourself at home than a bunny or an egg. It can also give the child an opportunity to show his or her own creativity by decorating the finished costume.

Of course it's not just children who enjoy the fun. Costume parties are popular with adults. Easter is traditionally associated with spring, rebirth and fertility. Adult Easter costumes can sometimes be very original and reveal some interesting ideas.
