Halloween Children

Halloween is the night when the border between the worlds of the living and the dead is at its weakest. It's the night when witches, demons and all kinds of spirits walk the earth. Evil is everywhere.

So what does that mean for children born on this inauspicious date?

Fortunately there seems to be little for the kids to worry about; being born on Halloween isn't a dreadful curse. It's true that there are a few stories of babies born on Halloween being spirited away or cursed, however these are in the minority. Most of the folklore concerning Halloween children seems to suggest that they are simply more sensitive to the spirit world than other people.

Children born on Halloween are often said to be able to see and possibly even communicate with the spirits - or entities, ghosts, whatever you want to call them. That ability can sometimes be a burden but can also be an extremely useful gift, providing a link to the spirit world. Those born this night may well go on to become mediums or have other lifelong spiritual interests and contacts.

If, that is, you believe in that sort of thing. Even if you don't then at the very least a child born on or near October 31st is likely to have some interesting birthday parties!
