Gonesh is one of the most popular and well known brands of incense on the market. Thanks to the web it's now possible for more people to have access to suppliers and buy online.

What Is Gonesh Incense?

"Gonesh" is not a single incense or fragrance but the brand name more an entire range. The name is inspired by the Hindu god Ganesh (sometimes spelt Ganesha). Ganesh is well known as the elephant headed god and is referred to as the "Lord of Beginnings" and "Remover of Obstacles".

History

Origin

Despite the name, Ganesh incense is in fact an American brand. The trademark is owned by the Chicago based US company Genieco. This began as the Hindu Incense Company which in 1923 was bought by Laurent Radzukinas. Radzukinas was an immigrant from Lithuania and he later change his name to Radkins. The company was renamed Genieco in the 1960s and the Gonesh poduct range introduced in 1965.

Gonesh incense is produced using the company's trademarked HighIncense process which it claims gives its products "the highest charcoal content of any brand currently on the market".

Today

Many different products and fragrances are today sold under the Genieco Gonesh name. These include the Classic and Extra Rich collections along with targeted scent collections such as The African American Heritage Series. Many of the company's classic fragrances are known by numbers, of which one of the most popular is No. 8 - Perfumes of a Spring Mist.

As well as incense you can also buy Gonesh brand candles.
