Self Help Hypnosis

Many people employ the services of a professional hypnotherapist to essentially help them to help themselves. This is particularly common soon after the New Year when many people are making difficult resolutions!

Such hypnotherapy aims to replace unhelpful habits with more positive ones, usually by a process of association, repetition and positive feedback. Negative reinforcement is sometimes also used although this must be treated with great care.

Uses

Some examples of the more common goals of such hypnosis include:

  • General helath
  • Sports training
  • Weight loss
  • Stop smoking
  • Self confidence
You can also buy a variety of audio tapes, CDs, mps3 etc designed to help you with this process at home. Needless to say the quality of these varies greatly. Many of the recordings on the market try to differentiate themselves by use of features such as binaural beats, subliminal suggestions, music, etc. Whether not these are effective is open to question - as usual, what works for one person might not work for another.

Such audio recordings are not a substitute for professional help. Consult a doctor if you suspect you suffer from any medical or mental health issue.
