Lucid Dreams

When we sleep we dream. Everyone does, even if they don't remember their dreams the next morning.

Usually we are unaware that we are dreaming. The experience created by the mind is as real to us as "real" life and we don't question it. However occasionally we become aware during the dream that we are indeed dreaming.

This is lucid dreaming. It is simply the state of becoming aware that one is dreaming whilst still asleep.

The shock of this realisation - lucidity - is often enough to wake up the dreamer immediately. If that doesn't happen then they will realise that they are in a world that feels completely real... but which they can control It's a great feeling to have.

A lucid dreamer can go anywhere, meet anyone, do anything.

Once people experience lucid dreaming for the first time, they often attempt to recreate the state. There are various techniques to help achieve this though be warned - they can take months to work. To help the process along you can also buy lucid dream induction devices such as the NovaDreamer along with hypnosis and relaxation tapes designed to help you to become lucid.
