Grades of Memory Foam

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a medical site and does not offer personal medical advice. You should always discuss medical matters with your doctor.

I can't really talk about memory foam without at least mentioning the different grades on the market. Today there are a huge number of manufacturers selling a massive range of products in stores and online. You can choose between premium memory foam, economy, thick, thin, dense, light, etc, etc.

It's really quite confusing. Which should you buy?

Which Memory Foam Is The Best?

Unfortunatey there's no simple answer to that question. However the two main facts to consider are probably thickness and density.

If you buy a mattress topper that's too thin then you might not feel the full support, if you buy one that's too thick then you may be spending money on extra inches of foam that you don't really need.

In terms of density, more isn't always better. A foam that is too light will probably not provide enough support, however one that is too thick may not have enough give to be comfortable.

We're all different. The best memory foam product for me might not be the same as for you. Unfortunately there's no real way of knowing what works for you without trying it out.

Premium

And "premium" memory foam? The term doesn't have an accepted, agreed meaning. It's often used to refer to thicker and denser products. However memory foam - like anything else - varies in quality depending on raw materials and production standards. It's up to you whether or not you want to take a stab at a bargain from an unknown manufacturer or play safe and buy a known brand for a higher price.
