Malaysian Bigfoot Hunters Face JailWednesday, March 01, 2006
The BBC reports that foreign cryptozoologists hunting the alleged Malaysian bigfoot could end up in jail. Apparently the Malaysian government has decided that if their Bigfoot really exists then it will be locals who find him. Anyone found on the Forestry Department's land without authorisation will face a possible fine of $2,500 or up to three years in jail. Permits are available and local Bigfoot hunters will be able to buy these for $1. There's no word as to how much foreigners will have to pay for the permits, or even if they will be allowed to buy them at all. Local tourism industry leaders are apparently concerned that the plans could stifle the tourist boom which the Malaysian Bigfoot reports could produce.
