Researchers have discovered a bizarre new species in the Pacific Ocean. The hairy crustacean has been dubbed the "Yeti Crab".
The creature was captured deep in the water to the south of Easter Island by a joint US-French research team. It is white, measures about six inches (15 cm) in length and has ten legs covered with silky "fur".
The new species is so weird that it has been allocated an entirely new taxonomic family. The "yeti crab" is officially called Kiwa hirsuta after Kiwa the Easter Island goddess of shellfish.
