Korean Christians Battle BrownWednesday, April 12, 2006
The movie version of Dan Brown's best-selling novel "The Da Vinci Code" is facing stiff opposition in Korea. The Christian Council of Korea, an umbrella group of over 60 Korean Protestant denominations, has filed a court injunction attempting to stop the release of the film in South Korea. The release had been scheduled for May 18. The Christian Council of Korea believe that the story of the Da Vinci Code is an "insult and defamation" of Christ and could damage the faith of individuals. It's often said that any publicity is good publicity. Even if the film is banned in South Korea I doubt that Dan Brown or the distributors will be shedding any tears. They will be getting even more free publicity from news hungry magazines and blogs. Including this one. Doh!
