In 2002, Briton Gary McKinnon was arrested on charges of hacking into sensitive US military computers. Officials claim he carried out "the biggest computer hack of all time".
McKinnon, who went by the hacker name "Solo", allegedly broke into numerous computers including those at NASA, The Pentagon and the Johnson Space Center.
He is now quoted as saying that his aim was to find evidence of UFOs and suppressed technology. "Stuff the government wouldn't tell you about".
McKinnon claims to have found some revealing information, including something called the "Disclosure Project". This, he says, contained expert testimony that extra-terrestrial technology had been obtained. He also claims to have seen a photo of what he believes to be a UFO.
McKinnon denies causing $700,000 damage to military and NASA systems in 2001-2.
