Texas UFOs Were F-16 Jets

The recent UFO flap over central Texas was apparently nothing more than ten Air Force Reserve F-16 fighter jets, according to Air Force officials.

A number of witnesses had reported seeing fast moving lights in the sky (LITS), however the air force initially denied having any aircraft in the sky at the time. The air force now say that this was a mistake arising from poor internal communication and that there were indeed ten of their fighter jets from 457th Fighter Squadron flying over the area on a training mission.

At least it wasn't a fleet of weather balloons...

UFOs Over Northern Ireland

The BBC reports that unexplained lights were seen in the sky over Bangor, County Down last weekend. What makes these UFO reports more interesting than the usual Lights In The Sky (LITS) is that there were reports from multiple observers including the Coastguard.

The UFOs were seen last Saturday and were described by witnesses as orange globes. Belfast International Airport has stated that no aircraft were in the sky at the time. Some reports say the lights were seen over the loch.

Such LITS reports often turn out to be lights from party celebrations reflecting off clouds. In this case the report from a trained observer - the coast guard - makes that explanation less likely.

It has been suggested that the lights were in fact wedding lanterns ("fire balloons") of the type traditionally used in Thai ceremonies.
