One of the most popular modern brands of Djembe drum is that made by Remo Inc, commonly referred to simply as a Remo Djembe.

The Remo company has been making drumheads for over 50 years and describes itself as "A drummer's drumhead company".

What Is A Remo Djembe?

A Remo Djembe is a djembe drum made by the Remo company. Remo Djembes are based on traditional designs to provide a pleasant form and authentic sounding tone.

They also incorporate a variety of modern advances including advanced tuning systems and artificial drumskins developed by and exclusive to Remo. A fibreglass shell means that the drums are lightweight and hence relatively portable.

Today you can buy a wide range of Remo djembe models with current series including Paulo Mattioli and Leon Mobley Signature, Festival and Floating Ring. Some models are available in a variety of sizes and finishes so you can buy whichever is best for you, from Earth to the modern looking Metalized Nickel-Silver.

Skins

One of Remo's selling points is their development of new artifical "skins" which have improved resistance to weathering. These include Nuskyn™ which the company says "sounds, feels and looks like real skin".
