EVP Demonstration

The term 4Cell (four cell) refers to a series of experiments instigated by the American Association of Electronic Voice Phenomena (AA-EVP). Perhaps more importantly it also refers to the methodology used in these experiments. It is hoped that EVP experiments based on the 4Cell protocol can provide scientific proof of EVP.

What Is The 4Cell Protocol?

Each experiment using the 4Cell protocol involves four people, each of whom has a specific function. Importantly, these people are geographically separated. This is intended to introduce a "double blind" element into the process and avoid skewing the results with "group think".

The four roles are:

Requester
The Requester determines the question to be sent. This should be something of interest to the Requester. The Requester then passes the question on to the Sender but - this is crucial - does not pass on the expected result.

Sender
The Sender attempts to pass the question on to the relevant "etheric entity". Remember that the Sender does not know the expected result.

Receiver
The Receiver attempts to conduct an EVP session and record any communication from the etheric entity. Note that the Reciver does not know either the nature of the question or the expected answer, only that a question has been asked.
If the Receiver records something then this is passed on to the Scribe.

Scribe
The Scribe then attempts to determine the nature of the mesage on the raw EVP recording. Remember that the Scribe does not know either the question that was asked or the answer expected.

At this point the whole group can become involved in analysing the relevance of the recorded answer to the question. The separation of functionality between members of the group means that opportunity for wishful thinking or bias have been minimised.

Does 4 Cell Work?

According to the AA-EVP, 61% (eleven) of the initial 4Cell experiments have proved successful. Given the notorious difficulty of replicating psychic phenomena, this is an excellent result. According to the AA-EVP:

"The 4Cell EVP Demonstration protocol has demonstrated that the etheric communicators are very interested in assisting us in our research"

However there still remains an element of interpretation even within the 4Cell protocol and skeptics are bound to latch onto this. It must also be remembered that proof of the existence of EVP would not necessarily tell us the nature of such phenomena - the continuation of identity after physical death would be one hypothesis. Other psychic or psi abilities would be other possible explanations, along with more mundane possibilities.
