Dowsing Charts

Dowsing charts are most commonly used for indoor pendulum dowsing. They can be a useful tool when it's not possible for the dowser to visit the target location, or they can be used for general purpose divinatory work.

What Are Dowsing Charts?

A dowsing chart is simply a sheet with various possible answers written or printed on it. These are usually arranged in a circle or semi-circle to make them easier to use with a swinging pendulum. To use, the pendulum is allowed to swing over the chart and indicate the correct answer.

Types of Dowsing Chart

Dowsing charts vary considerably in both content and appearance. Some simply have "Yes", "No" and "Maybe" type responses. Others might have letters, numbers, dates, locations etc. There are also specialised charts for questions concerning subjects such as health, money, relationships, etc.

You can buy pre-printed dowsing charts - often plastic laminated for durability - or you can hand write your own. You can even buy software programs to produce attractive looking charts for you. If you produce your own, don't forget to always include an "Other" or "Ask later" type option; forcing an anser when one isn't really available is worse than useless.

The best option for you will depend on your specific purpose and personal preferences.

Superficially dowsing with a chart looks a little like using a ouija board. However the ouija board is generally considered a way of contacting the spirits of the dead whilst the pendulum is thought of more as a way of tapping into the living universe and/or the dowser's own abilities.
