Danburite is a relatively "new" gemstones having been discovered in 1839. Natural danburite is usually clear though some varieties are grape yellow through to pink with pale yellow agni gold danburite being one of the best well known. What Is Danburite?

Danburite is a form of calcium borosilicate with similarities to clear topaz. Although still little known it's becoming more popular and you can buy danburite in a variety of jewelry settings or as plain crystals.

The stone is named after the place where it was first discovered - Danbury, Connecticut in the US. However most of the gem quality stones you can buy today come from locations such as Burma, Madagascar and Mexico.

Symbolism and Lore

As a recently discovered stone there is of course no ancient myth or lore concerning danburite. Nor does it have a place in the "official" birthstone list. However it appears to be popular with the modern New Age community.

Properties

Danburite has been said to produce high-level vibrations that can stimulate both the intellect and the psychic abilities. It has been associated with activities such as lucid dreaming, contact with angels and psychic travel.

It is said to radiate a cleansing, positive purity. Some people even believe it to have healing properties.
